Website Building 101
Website
Building Basics
Building one’s own website is a tool that can enhance anyone’s portfolio, making one stand out in the crowd. Yet it is profoundly simple. There are 3 free ones that I studied: weebly, wix and wordpress. I found weebly to be simple yet it didn’t offer enough flexibility for my purpose. I found wordpress to be uninteresting. However, I found wix to be just what I needed. It offers a professional look with flexibility for me to create the layout that I choose. You can click on the links below to try any of them for free.
You can add all kinds of
fun effects with Hangouts.

The effects are especially helpful when you have no makeup on and you didn't do your hair! :)
Google Hangouts
Google Hangouts is another tool that provides video
calling, screen sharing, file sharing and so much more.
The implications for education are much the same as for
any video chat platform. Since my school uses google drive, most students already have access to hangouts. This makes Hangouts a better choice for offering virtual office hours. Virtual field trips and video conferencing with experts are
still available as well. Through google plus I found forum discussions as well, and teachers interested in
collaborating with classroom projects.

Prayer Connection
While reading Luke 9:28-36, about Jesus' transfiguration
and the cloud of Glory that enveloped Jesus, Peter, James and John, I was struck by how people change based on their experiences, but God never changes. In the OT the children of Israel were used to seeing God's presence as a pillar of fire and a cloud. However, in the NT, people were not used to seeing these manifestations, so they were shocked. It reminded me that God is the same yesterday, today and forever, regardless of our experiences. Just because the disciples had not experienced it before doesn't mean that God had changed. This is extremely meaningful to me because I have been learning to see
God for who He is regardless of my experiences that
may try to convince me otherwise.
AHA Moment
It was amazing to learn that I was capable
of creating a website. I have created one for my classroom and one for this course project. I had always heard that it wasn't difficult, but I was shocked at how easy it really was. I can now add calendars, assignments, videos, email, comments, etc. onto my websites and my students will be able to use it to their advantage.
